Santa Cruz, CA, March 23, 2010 – Monarch Media Inc. announced today that it has been named a finalist in the eLearning Global Giveback Competition. The contest is co-sponsored by the eLearning Guild and Learning for International NGOs (LINGOs), a consortium of more than 45 international humanitarian organizations.
The competition was conceived as a means of providing LINGOs’ member organizations with the eLearning tools they need but lack resources or funding to build themselves. These member organizations created a list of nearly 70 courses that needed development, and eLearning Guild members then partnered with the LINGOs organization to produce the course of their choice.
More than 30 courses were developed and submitted to the competition by individuals, groups, and eLearning companies. The submissions were scored by individual LINGOs organizations based on creativity, appropriateness, learner appeal, working relationship and impact.
Monarch Media was chosen as one of four finalists in the Company/Institutional Developer category for its eLearning course “Leadership Orientation.” The course was designed in partnership with Acción, a LINGOs member and leader in the microfinance industry. It will be used as a training tool to introduce different leadership styles and promote individual leadership goals for its staff.
“Monarch Media has always been committed to making a positive impact on the world,” says Claire Schneeberger, CEO of Monarch Media and head of the team that designed the course. “Creating an eLearning program that allows Acción’s staff members to improve their leadership skills and better accomplish their mission of stimulating economic growth and alleviating poverty is one very concrete way we can make a difference.”
Monarch’s team of designers and programmers began work on the project in January and completed it in two months. They built the course to achieve a high level of experiential learning that leverages interactive multimedia to effectively reach Acción staff in Africa, India, Latin America, China, and the U.S. “Research into making eLearning as effective as classroom training has grown by leaps and bounds in the past five years,” says Schneeberger. “Organizations can now coordinate learning for dispersed groups to access anywhere and anytime.”
Expert judges are currently reviewing entries from the finalists in the eLearning Global Giveback Competition, and winners in all categories will be announced on March 25 at the Learning Solutions Conference and Expo in Orlando.
